Hm.....

Was meditating for a good while this morning in front of the altar. L came down ill last night and still wasn't (and isn't as of time of this posting) doing well. I'd done my 'good mornings', asked for some healing on his behalf, and then put together some tea and ginger capsules for him, and finished with some hands-on healing work.

Then it seemed to me, it being Mother's Day, that some lit incense might be in order for all the goddesses and for Gaia herself.

Interesting stuff came up.... my statue of Ceridwen is the one where she's kneeling by a cauldron and she has a hen on one side and a pig on the other. It's one of the pigs that's like a little wild boar -- spikey and fierce, which I like about it. Anyway, here I am gazing at/through the smoke, and suddenly wonder about the depiction of avian/human/swine combined....

And I wonder what potion awaits us?

Dreaming

Mix of scenes and such. The person traveling with me changed appearance a number of times - young teen/man, L, the actor Michael Shanks (plays Daniel Jackson in the SG-1 tv series) with longish wavy hair (so, still kind of like L)....

We needed to get out of some place and got word to meet with some folks elsewhere. Transportation in this dream was on foot, bike, or bus. Some details are hazy now, but on the bus we met a nurse (?) my partner knew from sometime past, whose job was giving medications to people. Since she knew us, I was allowed to look in her case for something to help with some pain I was dealing with (with the ongoing fitness and gungfu training, this isn't exactly a surprise). The "pills" weren't regular pills -- they were round and most looked kind of like pearls, in different sizes. The large ones were momentarily tempting, but I went for the next size down. Over-medicating is a bad thing -- you can injure yourself if you don't know what your body's actual limits are, damage internal organs, or even die. [When I woke up this morning I reminded myself that I was supposed to be taking baths on the days between showers, so I can reduce the need for anti-inflammatories, and that I should ice more often after classes or hard workouts]

We met people who were gathered in a building, learning songs. There was a certain, folk-mass feeling to the whole thing, kinda weird. Anyway, there were some people showing us around, telling us about the music and the dancers (I got to practice a hey with one of the four lines of people who were in the practice) , and how they were getting everything ready for the ceremony, the which we were going to be a part of -- all part of the 'great plan'. They were being ostensibly supportive but.... my partner (who now looked like Shanks with long wavy hair) had gone outside to get ready, doing something with his hair to get it out of his face but still down in the back... I was still inside and overheard our guides talking about the ceremony. Yes, it was going to go mostly as rehearsed, but my partner was going to die, as part of it, because they were changing the purpose of the ritual. They were just playing along for their own purposes.

So I went outside and warned him, and we looked down at a slope outside, where some of our stuff was, and were figuring out how to get down there and get away. It was time to leave this area and these people behind, because they were not in fact commited to trying to change things for the better, but instead trying to maintain things as they were.

And here I woke up.

So, a world that is medicated, one way or another, into complacency. Various types of tech, agribusiness food, types of entertainment -- bread and circuses to drug people into complacency, mentally, emotionally, psychically, or literally. Even the drugs in the dream looked like 'treasure' -- tempting you to be like everyone else.

And then there are those who think they are doing the right thing, but are only willing up to a point, and then they may turn on you if you want to go a step further than they are willing to go.

Walking Thoughts

Originally posted elsewhere on Feb. 26, 2009.

Farmers and weavers,
Healers and teachers,
Warriors and hunters,
Makers of the all.

Feeding and guarding
Wisdom and learning;
Food and nourishment
Of body and soul.

The past and the future
Are bound in the now,
Only the childlike
May be not blind to it.

Too clever by half,
Some seek to avoid it;
Blind to what is,
Their future is certain.

Which is more real,
Apple or elf?
Science or magic
Or is there a difference?

This started on a walk L and I took on Tuesday. Felt like it needed a fifth verse. Recent happenings elsewhere are reflected in the fifth, and go together in my head anyway. I'm not sure if I'm completely happy with it or if it all hangs together, but there it is.

Alban Eiler

Wow.

Most of the grove was sick so we did an astral grove. It was too bad we couldn't get together in person, but the astral was totally..... something else. We were completely surrounded by a Forest. And it was occupied. Animals, birds, all the critters you expect. And elves. And Ents. I love Ents. Apparently we shifted from being just on the regular plane.... or something.

More from March

I haven't been posting for various and sundry reasons. Partly busy, partly sick, partly disenchanted with posting and with being online in general. Well, and discovering the joys of IMing with a few friends, which pretty much has satisfied a lot of my desire to share information.

L and I have started going to gungfu classes in Amherst. A lot of driving therefore, but the classes have been worth it. We're learning new and potentially useful stuff and getting in better shape. I'm trying to exercises on the other days as well, to try to make significant progress in physical improvement.

Been poking around, checking out interesting stuff online, including Rangering. That's been a rather involved process, with getting bows and stuff. And cleaning/sorting/etc. And other stuff that I won't go into here.

Our beloved kitty Roselynde has finally traveled on, as of the 30th. I do miss her, and yet at the same time there is now one less thing to worry and stress over. And I have taken the occasion of her crossing over as an opportunity to eliminate some things from my daily routine as well. Some other larger things may be going too, this year....

I am finding some of the things we do to be quite tiring now... mentally, emotionally. Some things may be changing this year in that regard.

I find I am both looking forward to and not looking forward to, this summer. I guess we'll see what May and June bring.

Birthday Post

Yes, it's a month later, deal.

On my birthday, we went to East Heaven again. A favorite place for me, and we get a discount on the cost of the tub on my birthday. We were both under the weather, having had the flu (and a slow recovery over the month of March to come), so the soak in the tub was most welcome. I was doing my best to submerge all but my nose, sort of a sensory deprivation thing. Just relaxing into the water, trying to mostly float and let the jets do the moving.

I saw.... a spirit come to me. A water elf? She was beautiful, with a heart-shaped face and flowing hair, made of white highlights and shadow.

And then I was a hunter in deep forest. Great tall trees of immense, countless age, rocks with verdant green moss. It was night but the moon and stars shone through the branches, lighting on a rock here, moss there.

There came a clearing in the woods where the moon shone down in full on a pool, surrounded by rocks -- the handy sort that one can sit on, or use to get in and out of a pool. A tall slender woman with long silver hair stood there to one edge of the pool, inviting -- she was robed in silver garments and a low silver coronet or wreath -- hard to describe -- think the elves in LotR and you pretty much have it. A few maidens were bathing there already.

As I neared, I looked around and saw that male Elven warriors stood facing outward. Quite obviously I had been allowed in, seeing as one can hardly sneak up on folks such as these. An honor indeed, to see them and even more, Herself.

And then I was back with L in the tub. I did my observance and danced with the elements of course, same as last year. But that was a lovely additional gift, to see this other place. An excellent birthday indeed.

Day After Tomorrow.... A Few Thoughts

We watched Day After Tomorrow again yesterday. I'd forgotten that the global warming meeting at the beginning of the movie was in New Delhi, India -- where it was unseasonably cold and snowing a bit. Interesting seeing that part again now that there is unseasonably cold weather in India this year...

Of course the movie is very dramatic, with the mega worldwide storm thing happening and all. How likely is it for an ice age to hit in weeks? Also, are the super cold cells in the movie (looking like hurricanes but super cold and over land instead of over ocean) something that has ever happened in history?

I don't know much about how quickly the last ice age hit. And I think there were many years of things leading up to the final critical point. The real question is how near are we to that critical point? The balance of fresh water vs. salt water in the Atlantic is changing. And what about the Pacific? The Gulf Stream tends to be what scientists focus on, at least in America and Europe. Even in this movie, while they did mention Russia and Asia briefly (they actually did a scene in Tokyo near the beginning of the movie) and there were the tornadoes in L.A., there wasn't any discussion of freshwater effects on the Pacific. Maybe things are harder to figure out for that ocean because it's so much larger, and a different shape than the Atlantic.

I commented to L that the height of snow in parts of the movie would bury the farmhouse, and he replied that NYC being coastal they probably had it worse than places further inland. True enough, but I also remember a photo of my dad from when he was a kid. Standing outside a second-story window on snow that had drifted against one side of the house, in a non-coastal town in Maine. So, one doesn't have to be living during an ice age to have some of these concerns! But it's true enough that our area is somewhat protected against the worst of many storms, with the Berkshires catching a lot of it. Thank goodness!

Still, the weather in India and I think some neighboring areas this year does give one pause for thought.
